It was only a matter of time...

I've hit similar-dimensioned potholes, but I guess I was lucky. Glad to hear that not more damage was done (at least to your car, who knows what happened in those two weeks). The Belgian authorities have a neat trick. They just add a sign saying "chaussée dégradée" and in a case of damage they can always say: "told you so, should have driven more carefully". I think it often also comes down the price of repair of the pothole vs the price of claims. As long as the first exceeds the second they are reluctant to fix it.
