30k miles/ 3 year service price

Featured Replies

Hi,

Looking for a bit of information on 30k miles/ 3 year service price.

I understand that a brake fluid/ brake service is due at 30k, and can be done with the scheduled service. Anyone able to give an idea of Skoda dealer price to have this done?

Our car is shown as annual service, and although the engine change was carried out at 26.619 I understand the 30k mile service still needs to be carried out in order to maintain the warranty status. Our mileage is now 31700 and as yet there has been no service indicator in the display panel which is worrying me a little as I don't want to fall foul of their own made up rules re servicing and warranty. Should I take the car in even though the indicator hasn't appeared yet? I'm wondering if the chaps carrying out the engine change (at which they changed oil, filters, plugs etc) reset the service interval indicator.

What would the folks on here advise is best way forward, and as I posed earlier, anyone able to give an idea of Skoda dealer price for 3 year/ 30k mile service including brake service?

Many thanks for assistance.

Richard

30,000 miles would be a Minor Service.  Oil & Filter & checks and top ups.

& even though you have a replacement engine they say you have to change the Oil & Filter.

even though it was maybe new 2,000 miles ago.

That can be argued, because the Engine should be serviced to Manufacturers guidelines, 9,600 miles. / up to 372 days

But if you are held to getting a 'Minor Service' done, then hopefully less then £130,

but it could be well less than that.  5w 40 Full Synthetic. VW 502 00,  no Long Life required.

Say no Washer Fluid it is already filled, no Vacuum or Wash, just a Service & Oil Filter, not some silly marked up price.

But anyhow.

3 years is a Brake Fluid change, so Dealer Price, £45 or so,

but get that done where ever you want.

Maybe go to a VW Dealership and get it done.

Ask what they will do.

You can reset the Service Indicator, just go into the Menu and change to 9,600 miles / 372 days.

But the Warranty means the Service Schedule / Guidelines are Followed,.

so on a CAVE, Annual service 9,600 miles and Service Book Stamped.

?

Did they fit a Black or Silver Oil filter when they fitted the Engine?

That is National Pricing at Participating Dealers,.  you can ask for cheaper, and you might well get it,

Like at a VW Dealer where they will do you a deal,  due to not Participating on Ripping off customers quite often.

An Example being a Skoda Dealership Major Inspection Service which might be £249,

and they will Quote £100 plus to change the Spark Plugs.

& the VW Dealership will do the Major Service & Spark Plugs change, (Correct Plugs) for £299

& the Brake Fluid Change for £40 at the time of a Service.

Thanks for the responses, George I'll need to check the oil filter but memory says it's a black oil filter.

Any idea of how far in advance (miles or days) the service indicator ought to come on?

I'm going to get the car booked in anyway as the mileage is now 31700 and I don't want the warranty voided, I've been waiting on service indicator to come on as I think last service was done around 22k mark. Would need to check book though,

If you go to the Menu you can check now your Service Information,

it will show you how many miles and days to go.  and you will be able to work out if they reset when they put the Engine in

with New Oil & Filter.
