Manifold

Featured Replies

Hello everybody and compliments about the forum.

I tried to clear my doubt by reading previous post/threads, but I didn't succed very much (only found http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/127286-fabia-vrs-turbo-part-number-needed-asap/), so I bother you with my question.

My Fabia VRs, 365000km (227000 Mi) got a nasty problem with manifold, which got broken.

Turbo runs fine, but since manifold and turbo are in a single piece, I've to replace the whole unit.

The engine of the car is ASZ, but I'm in doubt about the proper turbo replacement.

My doubt arised because official service paper says to order the new turbo after the old one has been disassembled, checking some code numbers.

The car is old, a lot of Km spent, but is perfect and mechanically fine (apart manifold), so I don't want it to tear down.

The brand new turbo by official supply chain is crazily priced (1400€) and a refurbished one doesn't cost much less (1100€).

I've found a refurbished one, which has 24 months warranty, which is priced 430€, or a brand new one, at half price than above. Now, I'm in doubt it this units will fit or not, because I've no other reference than engine model (ASZ).

What else (if any) is there to check to order the right replacement unit?

Is it enough knowing that's for a Fabia VRs with ASZ engine?

May the different turbo codes named in the official service paper, only refer to different manufacturers of the turbo unit, but in practice are all suitable as they come?

Answers, directions and suggenstions are welcome.

Thank You in advance.

ENGINE CODE AND GIVE THEM YOUR REG BUT ENGINE CODE SHOULD BE ENOUGH

What's confusing me, are different part numbers (in the official service paper), for the same item and same engine (ASZ).

I supposed it's the same turbo unit, where codes (just?) identify different brands/manufacturer supplier, but one or another fits and works.

A confirmation or an explaination about this matter, is appreciated.
