Updating the Maps on a Yeti Columbus Navigation System Sept 2013

Featured Replies

I have a Yeti 4 X 4 TDI L and K. I am interested in updating the maps. Apart from asking Skoda to do it at a cost of nearly £200, does anyone have any experience / advice? The guy at Skoda in Cardiff wasn't particularly helpful at first contact (I await his reply)

Hi Andy,

I updated mine via an eBay purchase, Europe West V11.  It was a case of loading the DVD and letting it do the update while I was driving, it is quite long to complete.  Initially I started the process, whilst the car was parked, and then gave up.  When I started my next attempt it quickly worked out where I had left off and completed the update.  All appears to be OK and I've been using the maps without issue since mid November. The link for my purchase is not live now but the DVD looked like a genuine copy with full silk screening on the disc.

Andy, there's a Genuine V12 DVD (not an ebay copied disc) for sale in the parts section on here at half the price of the dealers.

What year is the car?

Should have 3 years free downloadable updates.

Nope! That's for the new Columbus used in the new Octavia etc.

I put the VIN of my Yeti in and got the information I needed.

It should lead you to the correct update of whatever model of Skoda you own.

Like I said that's just the new Columbus so only for the brand new cars.

If Skoda are wanting to charge £200 then he must have the old Columbus. Can only be updated with a disc (officially anyway).

As his car is only 17 months old what happened to the 3 years free updates?

The three years free updates are from 2014 when the Columbus changed from being a one piece removable unit to a two piece integrated system. The change in the Yeti came about on 26th May 2014, so his car (if it's 17 months old) is clearly beyond the date where the new unit was introduced. So three years free updates is irrelevant if the unit isn't the one which qualifies for the free updates.
