clunking on passenger side front

Featured Replies

Hey folks. Needing your advise. My car goes into the shop on Thursday for new wishbones, droplinks and track rod ends. It's been pulling to the left since I got it so the dealership replaced the front wishbone bush on the passenger side to see if that was the problem but not only did it not fix the issue, there is a horrible clunking from the nearside when I brake. I would just park it up till thurs but im a supprt worker so I need my car tomorrow. The guy said a new wishbone might be required soon as the lug that holds the rear of the wishbone into the bush, has gone. Kind of like when it's been replaced in the past, someone has battered it to get it out the bush. Do you think itll hold till thursday? Sorry for the epically long post but im ****ting it driving it ha.

Oh btw it's an 07 fabia vrs.

make sure the bolt at the front of the wishbone is properly tightened, there are torque figures somewhere as you can over tighten and strip the thread with a bit of man handling.
this was the problem for me and your symptoms sound very similar
Otherwise it could be droplinks, which are prone to failing.

or a damaged spring jack car up move wheel up and down side to side check for play and visual look at the spring

Check your plastic arch liner isn't flapping about.

Thanks for the reply. turns out the clunking was the front wishbone bolt being loose. Not going back to that garage that's for sure.

Bang on buddy, thankfully the bolt hadn't threaded but just chappie in the garage never tightened it. Scary!
