Clutch poss on the way out

Featured Replies

Beginning to suspect that my clutch may be on the way out as recently when i hold it down for maybe 10-20 sec's it then bites about half way up the pedal, however other times it's fine. My question is if i replace the clutch will i also need to replace the DMF ?.

Reason i ask is that when i replaced the clutch on my last car, which was a diesel it was also recommended to replace the DMF and this cost me a small fortune, therefore i do not want to replace it if it is not apsolutely neccesary, Btw my current car is a MY08 1.8TSI..

It also makes me wonder about bleeding the slave, or about it being worn, both of which are way cheaper to check/do than dropping the box.

If it's not that, then it probably is the friction plate. The good news is that replacing the DMF is not mandatory despite what the sharks told you last time. If it looks "burnt" then they can do a wear test.
