sat nav's Fabia

Featured Replies

just wondering what sat nav, bluetooth units are better for the fabia and if you can link me

columbus

or

amundsen

Would you not go anything other than them? I have a Kenwood DNX7240BT in mine with both sat nav and Bluetooth.

The kenwoods better isnt it, just not cheap but nor are any of them haha.

Columbus is the top one from skoda i think?

Depends if you want OEM or not ?

The only negative I have with the kenwood is I have rear parking sensors and I lost the display on my swing radio but I still get the beeping. It's a piece of cake to install, the only tricky bit was finding an ignition live but that wasn't hard at all, I just used an empty slot in the fuse box and stuck a piggy back in it.

i have rear parking sensors in mine aswell so columbus are the best sat nav

Columbus doesn't have a bluetooth adapter, you'd need to fit the bluetooth interface under the drivers seat which also needs the microphone fitted up in the interior light. Amundsen has its own bluetooth option, I'm not sure about the microphone though.  I fitted a Columbus, but already had the bluetooth interface (phone prep).

my fabia at the moment already has bluetooth so what unit do you think would be best phil ?

Personally a Columbus providing you can find someone with VCDS to get it coded up.  You'll need a GPS antenna which can be stuck inside the dash somewhere.

Don't get a columbus for the fabia. Although it fits etc, it was never sold as an option for the fabia. Because of this the sound output to the fabia speaker set up is awful. Overly sharp and almost piercing treble with no real control. The only way to correct this is to run an external amp and change through vcds to use the amp rather than output directly. I just got rid of my columbus partially for this reason. The amundsen was actually sold with the fabia and produces a much better sound quality. Just search for the forums for "columbus treble" or variations of and you will see the story over and over.
