Shouldn't there be a minimum bhp figure before a manufacturer can put a "sport" badge on it?

I mean yes they are quickish for a 1.2, but sport? Rapid Styleplus in Europe seems a more honest model designation.

I sort of agree with the minimum Bhp but my 1.2tsi produces around the same as my old golf 1.6... I know which one is quicker (and better on fuel) I've also driven some VERY quick cars in my time and think that the rapid is an ironic name as we all know it isn't and even with a 180bhp version it wouldn't be that rapid :) I personally would like to be back in the 200bhp+ club but where would it stop...

Our first Octavia I back in 2000 had a 2ltr petrol producing 115 bhp and I believe it was the same engine in a work colleagues Golf IV GTI. The 1.2TSI 105 feels it has the legs to just about match this old but larger capacity motor.

I kinda agree with the Sport, luckily it's not plastered on the back and is quite refined for the most part bar the wheels and interior so people don't know it's meant to be a Sport. But time it right you can take off like a little whippet. ;)

Yeah it's not the fastest car in the world, but it has suprised me on many occasions just how quick it can be for a 1.2, I've driven a few cars from 1.2 to 1.6 some on paper claiming to be 100+bhp (including that Corsa) and I tell you, I know I could easily nail them all with my Rapid.

We can't really complain about what we have, we knew it was a 1.2 when we bought it, I chose it over an 1.6 Octy 2 as that too didn't feel like it had much 'go' just kinda trundled along trying to drag it's heavy ass.

I've also driven the new Seat Cupra, the Astra VXR and every new varient of the Octy 3 VRS, Octy TFSI manual being my favourite hoping to get that one when my PCP runs out in 2 and a half years getting impatient however. :)

I believe the 2.0 petrol golf was only badged as a GTi in the UK. The dealers actually stuck the GTi badge on during the PDI.
