Estate boot rattle

Featured Replies

Hello

So I have an annoying boot rattle I just can't trace. Would welcome any ideas.

I have removed the load cover, polystyrene bit and contents under the boot carpet, the trim on the tailgate and the bit that separates the space on the left. It still rattles.

I'm wondering if it's the wiring loom for the rear lights. I have to remove the whole light cluster tho. Some loose cable or something.

The thing is some days it's not there at all. Frustrating. Might get the wife to drive while I lie in the boot next!

Is it the boot hatch itself?

I had a rattle from there but it went after a whil.

On my mk2 asked for the rubber trim along top of rear hatch glass to be replaced after coming away, was told they had to replace the whole rear hatch glass, had this done and there was a rattle for ages, took back several times complaining, in end the dealer had to put technician in boot and drive around, turned out it was some loose bracket to ariel from boot, drove me mad.

Ask your friend to drive your car and you can investigate at the back.

I had a rattling & booming issue and I did the same.

The lock and the buffers needed adjusting. The whole boot hatch was rattling due to incorrect setting from the factory.

I don't think it is the wires of the rear clusters. They are covered with textile tape.

Ah that's good to know. I can't really be bothered to take the lights off. Typically when I called in at the dealers for them to listen it wasn't doing it! Riding in the back is probably the only way to do it.
