First weekend of ownership and the damn cat ruins my seat!

Featured Replies

Putting my new mats down today and the cat jumps in, 5 seconds later he's pulling the chair threads out!

One of the things I appreciated about this car was how the seats all apeared in mint condition, is there anyway I can fix this? I'm assuming its buggered and will probably have to live with it. It just had to be the drivers seat!

I tried to push the threads back into the holes with a small screwdriver to tidy up but it just doesnt look right.

Anyone know what to call this type of car seat cover / finish so I can ask a repairer?

Maybe this is something to ponder?

Ha ha like it. Although I'm not buying anything else for that damn cat again! :dull:

The damage doesn't look like cat claw damage, more like abrasion, got a big wallet!

Like clothing with bobbles I'd be inclined to try an electric shaver to remove the fuzz if it bothered me that much.

I dont have a wallet let alone a big one (car purchase has cleaned me out)!

All I know is I didnt see this damage before but I did hear the cat pulling away at the chair. May try the shaver but worried it may pull out threads?

would one of them bobble removers work on that?

A bic razor might work or if you are brave a flame will get rid of the fluffy bits

You would probably best using one of those clothes bobble removers. And get rid of the cat :P

OR dont let the cat in the car lol

Replace the dog with a cat?

I think you mean replace the cat with a dog!

Seriously though, as said above, that doesn't look like cat claw damage to me. It looks far more like heavy abrasion. Cat claws would be far more localised rather than an extended area.

Cut my head if it cats job! Don't like them all but its looks like you had something in the back pocket, analyze since you get the car or maybe you left it for wash and valeters done it...

Ooops! Up ****....

Mike knew what I meant :-)

As richf said, nic razor. They do work, I had to do my back seat before I got a baby seat protector.

Another vote here for not blaming the cat.

There have been several threads over the years on the vRS seats with the exact same damage as in your pictures.

It's just wear and tear, or abrasion from getting in and out of the seat.

I'm guessing the cat just made you look closer!

Do you have a velcro flap on your back pocket?

My seat looks like that because the person that changed our uniforms made the closures velcro instead of snap fasteners.  It totally stuffed my seat.

I made a minor fix with the dogs electric fur trimmer

A bic razor might work or if you are brave a flame will get rid of the fluffy bits

On the cat or the seat lol

Well I've been wearing jeans, nothing in back pockets and a leather jacket so nothing to catch there. Perhaps the cat clawing has made me look closer?

Went at it with a electric shaver (very carefully) and its alot better. Guess nothing left to do than just live with it.

Have a dig around for seat wear. I'm sure tehre have been similar posts to this before.

Usually blamed on wallet etc in the back pocket but it does seem to be worse on some cars than others
