Thule Atlantis 900 Roof Box on an Octy Hatch...

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has done the above? Have the opportunity to acquire a Thule Atlantis 900 and I own a 2007 Octavia Hatch. It's a pretty humungous box, some details:

I've tried searching online but can't find much advice. It's a 2 hour drive away to collect so didn't want to make a pointless journey! The only other thing I could find online about my question was this:

Just a bit concerned it might be too big, overhang the windscreen or make it impossible to open the boot when attached. Any opinions welcome :)

If it helps, I have the 780 version. When it is positioned so that the box is as far back as possible with the tailgate open (estate) the front of the box is about 2 inches over the windscreen.

Thanks buddy that's useful to know. I was originally looking at getting the 780 for my Octy Hatch but this 900 is a good price. This statement fills me with a little bit of confidence...

I have the OEM Skoda Aero bars, should the Atlantis 900 attach straight on without any other fixings or pull cords etc?!

If the Skoda ones are like the Thule ones, I would invest in the T Track bolts. It makes it much more secure. Alternatively, take a roof bar to a roofing supplies shop and they will supply you with similar bolts and nylock nuts for about a 10th of the price. Thats what I did.

Thanks again. Went and collected it today and blimey she's a monster! Bloody awesome tho, just the job. The clever clamps/claws means it attached directly onto the aero bars no problem and is very secure, takes less than 2 minutes and no other fixings needed! Looking forward to using on holidays now! Hopefully this might help others. The Thule Atlantis 900 fits a Skoda Octavia Hatchback, no problem as long as you don't mind a bit of overhang. I happily pootled along at 70mph and country roads, very quiet and didn't feel unsteady at all. So if you want the massive one, go for it :)

It fits the estate too!

Here is mine...

Nice one Silver, looking good; like the gloss black!

I put mine as far forwards as the slidy claws allow and the boot doesn't completely open...! Back of the box touches the rear windscreen but still easy to have full access into the boot, it's only just slightly not completely open. It's so big!!

Does look the business on the Black Scout :)

It's a great box, you'll struggle to fill it!

I do the same as you, push it as far forward as the claw feet will allow, even on the estate the rear window touches the box when the boot is open.

The biggest pain is the space it takes up in the garage  :D
