Hello ! advice ?

Featured Replies

Just wanted to say Hello ! form a 'newbie' - had a Red vRS for a month now ( company car) and it seems to loosening up now.

Has anybody had a problem with the back doors opening onto first catch when moving ? it happened to me the other day, had travelled over 40 miles when all of a sudden the rear offside door 'opened' itself.

I am an active member of the Mitsubishi Lancer Register (own car is EVO1 ) so will look forward to taking part in this 'club'

Hi Trevor,

A big Happy New Year and welcome. :newbie:

We have had cars flying through the air unloading sumps and oil before now, but never heard of anyone on the forum with this problem.

Perhaps the door was not engaged in the lock properly or is it a continuing proplem.

Anyway nice to see you have a decent car now :mexwave:

Once again welcome.

Trevor

Thanx for the welcome, I'm sure I am going to enjoy my Skoda 'ownership'.

I have only had the problem once, car had 5 people in and I was doing around 80 (ish!), going to try and replicate to see if it happens again.

Do you have many meets, trips out, track days etc. ?

I'm in Sheffield area so quite central for all events.

For my sins I am the events co-ordinator for the Mitsy club and I arrange and organise all the static events we attend, maybe you could consider going to the Doncaster car Show in April as a group or the really big car club event is TRAX at Silverstone in September.

We also run several Track Days each year and a massive event at Castle Combe - The Super Rally Car Day - I believe there was a Skoda presense there last year. If I can be of any help for contacts etc, let me know.

sheffield.. cool... I'm not far, and there's a few of us over the west side, manchester etc.

And we all know there are some nice roads between manchester and sheffield ;)

We'll have to sort something soon. Maybe a Skoda \ Mitsi shared strackday would be an idea... but which would you bring? :D

Which one - tricky question !

My EVO is an early 'one' - 250 BHP fantastic power, 4 wheel drive etc but crap brakes - very difficult to upgrade, only thing I can do is play around with the pads, has warping disc problem !

Very impressed with the VRS brakes - may be tempted to have a go one day with it.

Maybe take BOTH ! :D:)

On the subject of track days you are all welcome to come along to an MLR track day, it's not just EVO's there's quite a good range of cars that attend - from a Pug 205 to Ferrari's etc.

Dony has 5 track days during Jan / Feb - all Sundays, roll on/ roll off - only

Excellent! Another resident of Sheff Vegas joins us, that's you, me and Skomaz.

Did the door on your car catch when you first shut it, then swing open and not re-engage after? ie did it just bounce back at you like there was no 'latch'. This happened on my Golf a while back (presumably the same parts) and it was a fault VW knew about but didn't make public. My rear offside door just swung open while cornering at speed. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had rear seat passengers.

Welcome to Briskoda.

Rich.

Hi Rich

Thanx for your input, the door was def SHUT, had travelled nearly 50 miles before it opened to 'first latch', I'm going to ask Skoda when the car goes for it's 1st service.

What model do you have ?

TrEVOr :D

TrEVOr,

I'm driving a Golf 1.4 at the moment but pick up my shiny, black RS in a couple of weeks. Actually 29 days but the tension is killing me and 'a couple of weeks' calms me.

Rich.
