BMW Clutch problem

Featured Replies

Drop the box yourself and do a DIY job on it, you could replace the flywheel for about £350 + a new clutch plate, pressure plate and thrust bearing whilst you are in there.

A cheaper fix than swapping the car IMO and easy on a rear wheel drive car as you have loads of room to work.

OR make it disappear one dark rainy night.... :peek:  Problem solved

James, I'd love to do that but I have nowhere to do it at nor do I have all the required tools - I'd need to buy some long extensions to reach the top bolts of the clutch bell. I even looked into renting some garage space with a car lift. Around £120 per day. I can get all of it done for £300 labor. Parts (LUK, who make it for BMW anyway) from Eurocarpats cost £384. To make the paintwork perfect in a proper body shop will cost me £500 and perhaps I could get it a tad cheaper if I do it all with that chap giving me "friend rates".

I will feel much better as well while selling a car knowing it is mint and there is nothing wrong with it - I really detest wheeler dealer crap and taking advantage of people...
