Featured Replies

hi all my fabia 1.6tdi estate 60plate bonnet wont open it is not the handle,it must have come unclipped on the front bonnet catch,as i can hear the cable moving at bonnet end when pulled from foot well on passenger side,i can not see any way to gain access even with bottom tray removed any body had a similar problem and how did you resolve it thanks.

If its the same mechanism as the Roomster I seem to remember an emergency bonnet opening technique mentioned on one of the PDF tech files/manuals on here, damned if I can find it at the moment though

surely this has happened to others any constructive help appreciated.

Had a similar thing on a T5 but couldnt fix it myself.

A local garage sorted it in about 10 minutes. Think he fished it open somehow

try having someone pull handle under dash and at the same time have someone at the front of the car and try and pull up the bonnet.

If not the you will need a 90deg hook rod to slip under the bonnet and pull back the spring loaded latch to allow the bonnet to pop up

Not sure if you are confusing this with boot opening in emergency. This is covered in owners manual.

thanks for your input, problem is cable appears to be not connected to actual bonnet catch so pulling it does nothing.

I'm' surprised there hasn't been more posts on this one as it will be really interesting to know what the dealer finds. I'm sure many of us on here have a stiff one (bonnet pull :giggle: ).

Mine feels quite fragile and I always use minimum force. It works fine but I just get the feeling the bonnet pull is weak.

Looking forward to seeing what caused your problem and how they fix it. Good luck

Just got the call from skoda bonnet open car was there 2 days cost £84.00,as i suspected the cable had come adrift at the bonnet end,i gather that the dealer i had taken to had not had this problem to solve before, they told me they had tried to gain access by removing wheel arch liner and front lower grill no success, removed bottom engine cover, removed fan assembly, this lifts just enough to free from securing lugs and is just held by gravity apparently, once removed reach up and release bonnet catch.took car from skoda to my local mechanic to look at how access was gained he lifted fan assembly, just to check and said if problem were to reoccur he could reconnect cable in about half an hour, hope this post may help someone in future.
