Dunlop Sport Bluresponce or Goodyear Efficentgrip or Hankook 425

Featured Replies

Hi, my Fabia mk2 2007 1.2 v car needs new tyres in a few weeks time ( still on winter tyres), I've been looking around and found these contenders

Dunlop Sport Bluresponce ( no.1 on Auto Expres test)

Goodyear Efficentgrip (no. 2 on Auto Express test)

Hankook k425 ( Which recommended)

I currently have Bridgestone er300's and I do about 6000 miles a year and mainly City driving.

What should I go for ?

Thanks

No way would I have the Dunlops. I've always found them to have high wear rates, plus poor grip and aquaplane resistance.

Had Dunlops fitted to my last car horrible (factory fit),swapped them for Hankook's much better. I have run Hankook's in winter for the past 7 or so winters (German winters not your poor British effort) and they are fantastic.

Cannot comment on the Goodyears as my previous cars all ran on Pirelli's, great tyres but getting expensive.

I'd avoid the Dunlop's (sawtoothing) and go with the Goodyear. I didn't have the Blue Response tyres but did have their predecessor (the Fast Response) which I replaced with Efficient Grip ones though

I've had both (on an Octavia estate) and found fuel economy improved with the Goodyears, noise went down and they lasted longer. No noticeable difference in grip, wet or dry, but I don't drive like a lunatic to warrant pushing them to their limits either.

My Yeti is due new tyres soon and I will be getting the latest version of the Goodyear Efficient Grips as the price is at the cheap end of the decent brands and they suit my needs.

PS: Here's a link direct to the test for those interested.

Or try Uniroyals, use their winter pattern on both our Fabia and Spaceback and they are excellent.

I've been running the Goodyear EfficientGrips for about 18 months so have probably done 18-19,000 miles on them. I've been happy with them until literally last week. I'm surprised the fronts have worn down to below 3mm in that time (I'm only running 100 torques :o) and the performance has just dropped off a cliff.

I expected slightly more longevity/better wear rate. I'd be interested to hear how long they've lasted on heavier/more powerful/torquier cars.

Hi

I am running Bluresponse 2 ' s on the Octavia as summer tyres and although they have only done 8,000 miles so far they are not wearing much and we have had no grip problems.

I might just stick with Bridgestone tyres, they have served me well . Anyone got the Turzana t100 ?
