Colour Advice for 2015 Skoda Octavia Hatch

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am looking for a bit of advice on the colour option for a new Octavia Hatchback 2015.

I am getting a lot of mixed reports online regarding what's best.  White is very popular at the moment and I have seen a few in red on the road and online video reviews.

On the other hand, some mention that to highlight the bold body line's you will need to go with a metallic silver/grey finish. !!!!

I am also wary of basing my decision with online photos as they may be air-brushed, photo-shopped, etc,

Any advice or photo's of your hatchback will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

Joe

I had my heart set on race blue when i decided to order a vrs. However, after seeing pictures of vehicles in the metal grey finish, with black pack, i started to change my mind. I then went to visit a dealership to see it in the flesh and that swayed the decision towards metal grey. For me, the car doesn't need to stand out too much as i have to visit some pretty unsavoury places as part of the job. Hence, a bold/brash colour wouldn't really be a sensible option for me.

Your best plan would be to go to one of the larger dealerships. They will have lots in stock at the moment in preparation for the plate change early next month so you should be able to see a good variety of colours

I was initially going to go for candy white as I like the look of it, but the missus pointed out the pitfalls of having a white car day to day (keeping it clean) and said she preferred blue - came down to a straight choice of denim or race and I chose race - glad I did as I think the car looks the mutts!  I'll see if I can attach a pic...

+1 for this, there's pretty much all of the colours here in hatch & estate version.

There's also a very nice "Metal Grey" thread, which everyone knows is the best colour ;)

In the end, choose the colour you like, after all, you have to drive it every day.

The colour should have little difference on the residual value provided you keep the car in good condition.

Grey and silver are always popular, so the dealer will be able to shift those on easier. Stay away from marmite colours as the dealer will tell you how exclusive they are when you buy it then likely to claim they are hard to sell, even if they have someone lined up for it when you come to trade it in so will offer you less.

Don't get race blue unless it's a vRS..... LOL

I went for race blue without getting a vRS. But half of the year the 4x4 will run circles around the vRS up here :p And the vRS is quite uncommon up here.

A rhetorical question is a question where the answer is blindingly obvious, or like you say there's no answer at all.

Example "Is the pope catholic?" or "what's the meaning of life?"

Back on Skoda.. I'm going metal grey, there's a few popping up now. Silver is nice too :)

Race blue was until the mk3 appeared exclusive to the Furby and Octy vRS and marketed as such, so IMO Skoda should have stuck to that though I don't begrudge anyone wanting their non vRS in race blue as it is a great colour. Back in the day it was easy....see a race blue and it got a cheery wave, now it's more likely to be granddad in his 1.2 SE so I don't bother anymore....The mk3 vRS is harder to spot too which is a shame.

Look at the list of colours. Mark off the colours you don't like, or colours you wouldn't want on a car. Now search for pictures of cars in the colours that are left. Easy.

I nearly decided on a 1.6TDI in white (all they had in stock at Emden). 30secs of thinking about it, and I was asking what 2.0TDIs they had :p

To think white stopped me buying the car I was going to buy. I'll give white its due though. Ive got the much better engine now, so thankyou Mr White :D

Dunno if that's ageist or non vRS-ist :D

The vRS is easy to spot. Its the one making the racket from that funny sound making device
