45.8mpg on my Octy Mk3 1.4TSi DSG hatchback at 2,500 miles.

That's calculated by dividing miles covered since last refill by the amount of fuel it took to fill up again.

It's 4.2mpg less than the rolling average on the fuel computer, but I'm pretty happy with it. For a large, turbo petrol automatic it's pretty impressive I reckon.

Be interested to hear what other 1.4TSi owners are getting, both manual and DSG.

If you sign up to spritmonitor or fuelly, you can get this calculated on a fuelling by fuelling basis and also long term calculations.

SpritMonitor also allows you to enter other costs, so you can calculate long term costs per mile etc..

I agree with vegit8 on Fuelly as a useful resource.  I'm now averaging around 46mpg in my manual 1.4 TSI, as measured by miles covered divided by fuel consumed.  The computer is reading around 49mpg.

My last tank in a 1.4tsi manual did 36mpg calculated (38 on the trip). However considering weekdays all the car does is somewhere between 4 and 8 very short trips of between 1 and 2 miles each, with occasional longer journeys at the weekend, I really don't think that's too bad.

My last similar sized petrol car struggled to get that on motorway cruising trips and overall I'd say it's within 10-12 mpg of our other car, which is a diesel supermini.

My best out of the 1.4 so far is 54mpg on one fairly long a-road trip. This was the trip computer figure so I'm guessing about 48/49mpg if you calculated. A mainly motorway trip for a short break recently returned a calculated figure of 45mpg.

There are no Filling Station Pumps selling fuel by the Imperial Gallon are there. (4.564 litres) only litres.

 

Seems like it will be a lot simpler once people say how many miles to the litre they get.

(since the UK still never went fully Metric and changed to Kilometers.)

£50 after needle was half way through the red took me near as 400 miles before I had to put some more motion lotion in. Predominantly short 2/3 mile journeys each day.

Yep, we've seen tha Fuelly score, HTF do you manage that? I've got a heavy right foot, but can't get anywhere like that! In 10k miles my worst tankful is 36.43, best 51.27, but usually around 42-ish.

I have got a manual model and the 1.4tsi versions sold Down Under do not have stop/start.

Best tank to date was 5.5 l/100 (51 mpg). Average as per sig

I have a 2.0TDi (150PS) DSG and am getting 40.6 mpg the same as the computer. Mainly do short journeys but do drive swiftly.

Although, I do have a best of 42.9 when I took the family including the MiL on holiday to the west country last summer but, I just consider that a blot on my copy book.

okay probably going to get a few frowns for this but I have a 2.0TDi and average between 57 / 58 mpg (560miles) per tank - over the 14k covered so far. I usally stick the ACC on at 60mph on the motorway and leave it there though!

What do you mean by a tank, is it 10 gallons (45.5 litres) or less to fill it up again after doing 560 miles ?

Yes normally put in 45 litres

I'm between 55-64 mpg. Best is just over 64mpg managed 598 miles to the tank filled up with 42.3litres always filling up to a second click. 1.6tdi manual

The original poster was asking for figures from 1.4 tsi drivers...

Can I politely suggest that diesel drivers start a separate thread, so we're not comparing apples with bananas?

Here's a one-off data point from my 1.4TSI that's pretty much a best-case scenario:

 

Left Luton airport last night at around 8pm.  Fairly uncongested drive through Luton and then up the A6 to home in the North part of Bedford.  Total distance around 25 miles door to door.  Speed limit was kept to throughout journey and was the usual cruising speed.  Climate control was on and set at 20 deg C, but not having to work at all hard to maintain it.  Journey time was around 45 mins for a 33mph average speed.

 

Car attained 54.9 mpg on the maxidot, which from measurements so far is around 5% optimisitic, so let's call it a true 52mpg.
