Protection Pack

Featured Replies

At last picking up my new Citigo next Thursday.  Been a long wait but am sure will be worth it.  Wanted to know if anyone else has had the dealer fitted protection pack and what you get for your money.  The brochure shows mudflaps, bootliner and mats.  Couple of questions

Do you get front and rear flaps, Are they any good? worth the money etc? - been quoted £176 for the whole pack - am tempted as the car is white and we are getting a dog in the Summer.

website seems to say door sill covers, boot liner, matts and flaps. Seems ok to me. When did you order the car?

Ordered on New Years Eve 2014 so quite a while ago but about average for factory orders I understand. I could probably get the lot at Halfords for a fraction of the cost but can't be doing with the fitting and faffing about. I was thinking about pimping it a bit with the sport stripes but being a 47 year old Dad I was worried it would look a bit mid life crisis. My missus isn't convinced and I have just been quoted about £370 to get the stripes put on so still undecided. I'm changing from a 1.8 litre 125 bhp Mondeo to a 1 litre 60 hp Citigo so will be quite change for me but should save me a few quid in the long run!!

Yeah not too bad a wait. I'm going from a 190bhp Audi A4 so know your pain lol. I've ordered a Monte Carlo though so no need for go faster stripes. My mate did ask if it was a midlife crisis order but had it been then I would have bought the S3 or m3 I really wanted! Like you I'm looking to save money, should recoup £85 a month on fuel, tax, MOT & servicing alone.

I went from a 200bhp Mondeo Titanium X to the Citigo and the only aspect of the Mondeo I miss is its overtaking ability. The Citigo is far more fun to drive and, on today's overcrowded roads, journey times are no longer. I reckon I'm saving about £100 a month as well.

Yeah I know what you mean. I have occasional access to my wife's VW Up and for chucking around town and ease of driving it's pretty hard to beat. I think I will miss overtaking power on motorways etc but these little cars are in their element around town and as I don't really make many long runs now it's economically a sound move but also a quite attractive one too. The tax alone on my Mondeo is £25 a month so no tax on a green tech elegance plus lower insurance and 60mpg is a huge incentive in downsizing.

As above really, went from a 190bhp Beemer and occasionally miss the power and torque but love the Citigo.

The Citigo May well surprise you on the motorway, has no problem keeping up with traffic and is more than happy sitting at ... ahem ... 70! The big issue is steep hills where you do have to knock it down a gear or 2, and sometimes 3, to maintain progress. But it's not a problem as the gearbox is a delight to use.

Totally agree with you there tweenster. It has actually made driving fun again for me. The gearbox and the just general get up and go of the car makes it feel a very interactive, hands on experience compared to the big but dull cars I have had over the last few years. You are much more engaged in the moment of driving than the detached feel you get from a bigger softer car. It is very hilly where I live mind but like you say, not a problem!

I'm so used to changing down for hills, overtakes etc. that I do the same when driving my other half's 170bhp Giulietta and end up pulling a few Gs. :)
