Cold start

Featured Replies

No it's not another Battery thread.

I have a 1.6FSI pre F/L. Issue is when starting from cold the car doesn't seem to idle. Fires first time most of the time but every now and again it will only idle at about 3-400 rpm. If I give it a little gas it will go up to 700rpm but never really seems to go any higher.

As some may know I used to be a Mechanic many moon ago and my initial thought would be idle control valve but cars have gone computerised a lot since then and I understand these are no longer used as its all controlled by ecu.

Plugs seem ok although it's due a service in the next few months (variable).

It's recently had a new temp sensor, but had this fault before and still have it now.

VCDS shows no faults stored except a radio communication issue which I think is because my cd changer is disconnected for a connects 2, and a low aircon pressure as the sensor has failed but that's in HVAC and shouldn't interfere with idle.

Anybody had this before?

Any ideas?

Did try search but couldn't find anything that seemed relevant.

Mike
