mcd on skoda octavia

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum! I discovered it a couple of weeks ago when I bought a Skoda Octavia Combi Elegance: wonderful car! I have now the following problem. I got today a VW MCD navigator (bought on ebay) and I tried to install in the car, simply exctracting the old radio (philips) and plugging the black and brown ISO connectors into the navi. It doesn't seem to work. There are two red leds flickering that switch off when I turn the contact key and that's all. For the rest no signal from the navi. I'm wondering whether the ISO connectors corretly match those in the navigator...The car is from 2001. Can someone help to solve the problem? Thanks a lot!

im not 100% certain.. but it sounds to me like you need the adapter for it to turn the standard pins to the 20pin. I needed this when i fitted the same unit (skoda version) into my fabia.

You can get the lead on www.satnavsystems.com Its called the "plug and play wiring"

Thaks for your very fast reaction! Isn't this cable only suitable for the MDF navigator? Actually the person who sold me the navigator told me that I should connect the 'SAFE' pin of the navi to the '+' of the ISO. Does this make sense to you?

just a thought that was all. Perhaps email satnavsys and see what they advise, they are a good bunch who run it.

Yes swapping the pins round sounds well known.
