2006 MK1 Skoda Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Thanks for looking at my advert.

I am advertising this as my Girlfriend has decided she can now walk to work so its no longer needed .

Lets start with the negatives.

This car has done 173,000 and most of them having been motorway miles, it does have the wear and tear accustomed to motorway driving.

It does have stone chips, tar spots, a cracked fog light and the previous owner was apparently not great at reversing as the back bumper as a few scuffs. The alloys are not in the best condition but certainly not the worst I have seen.

When I purchased the car (13 months ago) I noticed an issue with the idle speed, but this did not affect the drive.

One very cold winters morning a couple of weeks ago the passenger window went down and decided not to go back up!!

Now, if you are still reading this here are the positives!

This car only has 1 previous owner (now me too). This chap purchased the car from Laser Skoda in Harlow Essex.

He drove this car everyday on his commute from Saffron Waldon to East London (Quite a daily journey).

As this was his workhorse he never missed a beat in regards to taking care of the car.

I have piles of receipts with the service history as below:

10,000 Mile Service (Laser Skoda 25/05/2007)

20,000 Mile Service (Laser Skoda 22/10/2007)

15th Service 139,399 Miles on the clock (Preston Motors Skoda 11/10/2012)

16th Service 143,958 Miles on the clock (Preston Motors Skoda 08/01/2013)

17th Service 148,590 Miles on the clock (Preston Motors Skoda 26/03/2013) CAM BELT AND WATER PUMP CHANGED

19th Service 167,449 Miles on the clock (Preston Motors Skoda 07/01/2014)

20th Service 172,149 Miles on the clock (Japex Performance 17/01/2015)

In between these services, he also replaced the tyres on a regular basis and the windscreen 3 times due to stone chips.

As service history goes, I think you would struggle to match this!

The last service was done by the garage I use for all of my cars (they are Jap specialists and are equally fantastic) It went through an MOT at the same time (Expires Jan 2016).

During this service the issue with the idle speed was diagnosed. The inlet manifold shut off motor affects the idle speed (making it lower then it should be and experiences a slight hesitation on occasion when you put your put down from cruising speed). The throttle pedal is also warn (making the idle speed higher then it should be!)

The garage told me the inlet manifold was about a £100-£150 fix. The pedal you can do yourself and can pick them up pretty cheaply. They were happy to do it at the same time if I provided the pedal. The battery was also weak which I replaced.

The passenger window suffered a broken cable mechanism (new regulator needed). Again this is a relatively cheap fix, I have seen the parts for £45 and again the garage would have done this at the same time, a cheap easy fix when you know how! For now this has been jammed shut.

This car was actually purchased from a advert on here.I have used this car for my 12 mile round commute to work and back for the last year. It is reliable, efficient and nippy! It is still standard on all fronts.

I am looking for £2750. The work needed has already been taken into consideration.

I wanted to give Brisky members a chance to give this a good home before I advertised it elsewhere. There is the option that I could carry out the work and ask for more on the price.

I have been as honest as possible. If you can look past the high mileage and consider the care it has had then its still got plenty of life

Its simply no longer needed otherwise I would have kept it! It is still in slight use so mileage may increase.

Car is located just outside Hemel Hempstead.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions. I can be contacted on 07545284481

Thanks for looking!

Martin

Final reduction to £2000 no offers.

Someone please give this a good home before I take it to we buy any car!!! :(

Webuyanycar have just ripped my mates car to bits, there staff have a clipboard and are seriously trained to find fault and drop the price.

Dont do it, you will get a grand if your lucky.

Get it on ebay without a reserve it should do well.

Yep, they tend to do that.

Any scratches etc

Check previous keepers, service history book for dates, stamps and what was done, both original keys and plenty more.

Thanks for the info. Car is in good condition and the service history is spot on so will see how I get on with the inspectors if I get no takers at £2k.

Do they ask for anything upfront with WBAC ? Can you not just get them around on the firm understanding that you are wasting their time and hence costing them money lol

(only then tell them its already on ebay and price already gone beyond what they were prepared to give you so they can do one lol)

When did you take the pictures as it looks mint?

Do you have any interior pics?

Whats the clutch like?

Cheers

Pics were taken about a day before I opened this thread.

Considering the mileage clocked up on the motorway it is in good condition. Interior is good too.

I will check the paperwork to see when the clutch was changed last but it has no issue, just the throttle pedal as mentioned above.
