If the pokiest is going to be 150PS then my current Yeti may well be my last. I'd like more power, not less.

  • Dead is far too strong a word. CO2 is still king and diesels are giving a lot more miles per unit CO2. For example the 108bhp 1.6 TDI Octavia Greenline is 85g/km, whereas the 103bhp 1.2 TSI 115g/km.

  • I suspect that either of the 150PS engines will still give a decent drive, especially with the petrol one having better lower-down torque than previously, judging from the same engine in other VW mode

Thank you.

So does the use of this remove the "problems" of the DPF in urban-like driving?

Due to my probable change in circumstances I was looking at moving away from diesel and back to petrol engines again, but with the new engine line-up there does not appear to be a petrol engine suitable and at the right price for me.

Thank you.

I'd expect not - this is aimed more at reducing NOx emissions rather than particulates so the DPF will still have the same limitations.

DFP still there, but SCR let's engines run hotter(?) so maybe less problems.

More info now... and looks like the new diesels do have SCR. No more 'Greenline', Elegance as become SE L. Very disappointedly the 150 TSI is only available in the very pricy L&K, guess they don't want to sell many. I think a lot of people would have chosen the Petrol in SE or SE L as it would have been cheaper than the 150 TDI, alas, SUK had other ideas.

The 150PS diesel is a nice improvement on the old 140 though; much more efficient and 0-62 in 9.1 sec compared to 9.9.

Might be that CarBuyer has just done a 1-to-1 update of the entries in its Yeti availability list (rather than Skoda UK doing a lazy 1-to-1 update of its UK market Yeti list)?

According to "Skoda media portal", there are 3 new petrols and 2 new Diesel engines from the beginning of june for The Yeti.

1.2 TSI 110 hp / 124 Gr of CO2.

1.4 TSI 125 hp / 134 Gr of CO2.

1.4 TSI 150 hp / 147 Gr of CO2.

and

2.0 TDI 110 hp / 115 Gr of CO2.

2.0 TDI 150 hp / 126 Gr of CO2.

Makes one wonder if Skoda UK will take up the 1.4TSI option, as it was not a strong performer last time around( albeit in a different guise).

The MY15 140 and 170 diesels came with different brakes. Now these two engines are replaced with a 150PS engine - which brakes do we have? Any idea how to find out?

Aren't they listed in the brochure? They were in mine for my 14 plate 140 DSG 4x4 FL SE.

Are these for UK - I can't find anything on the Skoda UK website confirming these engines will be coming to the UK. The 1.4 TSI was dropped from UK line up so why would they bring the 125 hp version back? I can see that the 150 hp version would replace the 1.8 TSI. It seems that Skoda UK are in no hurry to let their UK customers know what they can buy!!

These are the Euro 6 engines, so I presume they are phasing out the Euro 5 ones. The 170 is being dropped - not sure why that can't be replaced by the Euro 6 version of the 184HP engine that is in the Octavia.

'cos the larger engine is staying with the Q3 and Tiguan... Skoda aren't worthy.

You wouldn't think that from the current pricing!

Isn't this VW HQ just tightening up how much latitude they allow Skoda though? In particular, presumably, so that it doesn't impinge too much on VW as a marque (given that VW  - the marque not the group - has performed fairly poorly in terms of profit margin recently, relative to eg Skoda and Audi) and Skoda is repositioned as a mainstream brand with _some_ real appeal, but not too much. Just looks to me like there's more control being exerted from the centre to achieve this in terms of the specs that Skoda are allowed to offer.

But there does seem to be more of a theme of central control emerging with some Skoda dealers being required to expand or relocate or face the consequences. ALS, the dealer down the road from me in East Cambs, has recently dumped Skoda in favour of Suzuki, apparently after being told to relocate to a higher-profile town centre location.

My closest Skoda (East Sussex Skoda) dealer was in the process of wooing or being woo'd by Suzuki when I went in to test drive a Yeti.

There was a total lack of interest in my business, so far in fact as to offer a ridiculous PX on my 3 year Roomster. So I voted with my feet and went to Allams of Epsom. I was up front with them and told them they'd only get the sale as I would get service from a closer Skoda Approved Agent (Rivervale Skoda). Deal was done. By the time I was ready to get my FL I found that Station Garage had moved to Broadbridge Heath, some 12 miles closer than Epsom so they got the order under the same conditions. Fair deal in both cases. Distance from home being the only reason I didn't return to Allams, where I got excellent sales service.

I drove past East Sussex Skoda a couple of weeks ago and found they were still Skoda dealers but I still won't go there for my next Skoda and no sign of Suzuki!

Fred

BTW before moving to Skoda I had 5 Suzuki's.

Nice to see the Germans at least are getting the 150PS petrol across the range, ~2600 euro less than the 150PS diesel.

Thanks for that Totally Square.

The good news (for me anyway) is that there is a 1.4 petrol 4x4. Keeping my fingers crossed it's made available here as well.

Just had a look at The UK Skoda configurator and it's not available, apparently undergoing "essential maintenance". I wonder if it's being updated to include the new engines.

Sorry is sucks...scr ..means adblue.

SCR is a small price to pay for what looks like a much more efficient engine. The new 150 diesel looks a lot nicer than the old 140.

So the Greenline is no more :notme:  real shame they didn't opt for the 1.6tdi from the octavia as that is meant to be a sweet engine.

Thought there was to be a lowered output 1.4 petrol?
