Alarm no longer beeping on lock/unlock

Featured Replies

Was working fine yesterday, go to unlock the car this morning and the lights flash but I hear no chirp.

I have checked that ATA Confirm is ticked, in case I had accidentally deactivated it, and even turned it off and on but still not working. Does this indicate an underlying fault with the alarm itself?

Also the drivers door LED stays on for about 20-30 seconds when I lock the car, and then goes on to flash like normal. Is this normal behavior or is this all interrelated?

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers!

Seem's you have the same problem as I had ( battery in the alarm has given up the ghost), a good check is to drop drivers side window lock the car & madly wave your arm around inside the car !!! :D It should set the alarm off, if not it may be your alarm sounder is knackered. Its front drivers side wheel off, arch liner off, look up to your left inside the arch there is a metal box, 10mm spanner on the top nut holding the box to the inner wing, it will be riveted at the bottom I just pulled it out off the thread to get the the alarm unit, pop the connector off. I got one off ebay, for around £20 (used).

Here is a link http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=1K0951605C&LH_PrefLoc=2 mine ends with a 'C'  which I believe  to be a later model. Just a word of warning I've just had to put my original alarm siren back in due to the interior ultrasonic sensor throwing some weird VCDS faults up & not going off when trying to set it off !!!

Thanks for the info guys. However I did this check last night, and nothing happened, the alarm wouldn't go off no matter how much I waved!  :D  So is the alarm itself knackered? I would at least expect the lights to flash etc even if there is no actual sound?

Check the modules with VCDS - you'll probably find errors. It probably isn't actually setting the alarm if it can't talk to the sounder.

Yep, agree with GTI Jazz it could do with a scan first. As I said I have a problem with the one purchased from a breakers which did exactly the same as your is doing, no alarm or flash when trying to set it off. I also got the led  staying for 20-30 sceonds & then flashing when locking with the remote, but since re-fitting the old sounder the led flashes as is should on locking.
