New guy with couple of queries with my fabia vrs, loud bang today when accelerated hard on lock..

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm a new owner of a Fabia VRS, one week tomorrow :). It's a 2003 just clicked 62k today. Leaving work today put myself in a situation where I had to floor it while pulling out a junction, turning right. Road surface wasn't smooth so traction control tried to do its thing. There was a really loud bang. What could it be? I've searched the forum but couldn't find anything.

I've also got a noise at all speeds that sounds like a wheel bearing, but doesn't change if I turn left or right. It also causes a bit of vibration when at speed. I know the handbrake isn't to clever, it does nothing for the first click, I think I need to fit the return spring mod and replace discs and pads, N/S is shot. Could this be my noise and vibration?

Other than that usual stuff, rear door seals, windows switch on drivers side, rear wash not working, boot not always wanting to open unless with key fob (fairly sure rear wash pipe the problem). I think that's it. Love the car it's loads of fun.

Great forum btw I've learnt loads already :)

The loud bang is sometimes caused when the wheels break traction and start to spin. Like it on all cars

Yeah one of my friends Fabia's used to bang all the time when trying to gain traction if he floored it, I don't think it's anything to worry about.

+1 on the 'bang' I sometimes get similar symptoms when trying to floor it over rough cobbles on the streets next to mine.

Have you had a search for solutions to your other problems with the car? They've all been well documented and thoroughly covered on here, you've come to the right place for information and experience!

Welcome to the forum.

Another +1 on the loud bang.

Been noticing it for a while now.

I put it down to loosing traction and crappy/bumpy road surface.

As its usually happens around the same spots on my "brisky" drive home. [emoji16]

Thanks for the replies guys. You've put my mind at rest it isn't anything to worry about. The 'noise' and vibration I have searched and searched, I found a few similar issues people have had but symptoms aren't exactly the same.

My thoughts at the moment are the N/S drive shaft, I've found a old mot split boot so maybe that has progressed? Will check it out when I get the chance... Will just add it to the 'list'

For now just drive and enjoy :)

Again +1 on breaking traction. Sounds like you've hit a really bad pot hole lol

Oh the good old days when Mk2 escorts cost less than £500 with mot and tax!
