Featured Replies

Hi all,

I ahve had an octavia VRS in the past a mk1, stupily sold it, Hands down the best car i have owned. Now i am looking for a new car that I wont get bored of budget £13 ish.

I wan something that i wont get bored of, is quick enough so that i dont get bored, i really want DSG as sometimes I may need to borrow my wifes car and hers is auto.

Do i get the TDI OR FSI, really put off by the engine failure sticky at the top , any advice would be great!

Thank,

Paddy

£13k**

I am really happy with mine petrol vrs :)

Annual mileage?

It really does depend on your mileage, I have a VRS CR DSG. I only did 6000 miles last year so I should have bought a petrol one really.

Anyone fancy a swap lol.

10-12k,

So it's not a common issue the engine failures in the petrol VRS?

Its no more common than on other platforms. If you're doing 10 -12k, you could get either really. Try them both out and then decide for yourself.

I bought my petrol DSG version in January 2014 with 37,000 miles on the clock.  It has now done 56,000.  Would I have saved money on fuel with the diesel version - yes.  Would I have enjoyed it as much - no.  As it is I get between 39 and 40 mpg on the daily commute.

For that I'd run a petrol but I'd also buy extended warranty if you have concerns. I've gone from the TFSI to a diesel (not an Octy) and there is no argument the petrol was a nicer drive, diesel has it's advantages but if you want a fun car petrol all the way.

There are revised tensioners for the TSI so might be worth enquiring if it has had them or how much they would cost.

Diesels also have plenty of issues, DPF, DMF injectors etc. You'll never find a car without some known problems.

You can get the latest version of tensioner fitted for around £400 then no more worries.
