New Fabia,don't think so.

Featured Replies

I'm getting ready to exchange my VRS Blackline 6.000 miles and its served its purpose long runs to the highlands and back. Wanted a new Fabia with a bit of go about it, 1.2 tsi is an ok engine but it's more a workhorse than an exciting motor I had a fabia dsg 105 elegance before the Blackline.

I have been looking at two cars to replace it both with twin clutch boxes.

1st a New Polo 1.8 GTI dsg £22000 near as dam it with a few extras.

2nd A Renault ClioSport Lux Cup version, price about the same.

From experience I would think the Vag DSG will be superior ie.quicker change, but the car is smaller than the Renault. The motors produce similar power 189bhp to the Renaultsport 197bhp the old nismo motor.

I have not driven either yet,but have had a good look at the Renault and I have to admit the car looks realy good.As for build quality I know the German car is probably better and the residuals will be superior.Renault have improved a lot in this department.Still thinking about it.

Has anybody got any experience of either car or any thoughts.

dealer said Saturday a VRs is coming due to demand

claimed was going to be a 1.4 160PS ish diesel

1.4 TSi 150? or a 2.0 150PS TDi but not 1.4 150-160PS TDi would be my thought

so many rumours about this lately it is still a wait and see

as if by magic

From Skoda Geneva Motorshow press kit:

The ŠKODA Yeti will be available from the end of May with new EA 211-series 1.2 and 1.4 TSI petrol engines: 81 kW (110 PS) 1.2 TSI, 92 kW (125 PS) 1.4 TSI and 110 kW (150 PS) 1.4 TSI. The new EU6 diesel engines (EA 288) for the Yeti will be the 81 kW (110 PS) 2.0 TDI and the 110 kW (150 PS) 2.0 TDI. The 125 kW (170 PS) 2.0 TDI will be discontinued.

Bit of a shame there are not more powerful petrols and diesels available any more, but the 150TSI is not far short of the old 1.8 and should be a lot more economical.

wonder if either the 150PS engines are the one to be hinted at by the salesman?

Have you also considered the Polo BlueGT with the 1.4TSI 150ps DSG? About £18k with discounts, but I guess the extras may make it similar enough to the GTI to not be worth the savings!

The polo won't be anywhere near 22k once discount is factored in I'd imagine. A 5-door DSG polo GTI is currently £17295 on drivethedeal.... :-)

The Polo GTI I priced is a DSG with folding mirrors reversing sensors metallic paint £21 750 from a vw dealer with px.I am well aware a normal gearbox is only in the £18.00 bracket.

I would take a look at Carfile.net. Less than 20k for the spec you want. Have bought my wife's last 2 Qashqais from them and saved thousands over my local Nissan Dealership. Pick up my new Fabia Estate shortly with a 11.5% saving.

Try going through carwow - I've had offers under £17K for a 5 door polo GTI manual.

Please don't pay that much, no need. You can get a much better deal! :-)

Are there really used ones already. I was told there were no customer cars in the country until April time.

Volkswagen UK have Press / Media cars, and Demonstrators going to Dealerships.

(Sometimes called Management cars & sometimes called Ex Demonstrators.)

So these might be advertised for sale as used, and available in 3 months / 3,000 miles.

You just need to be aware that that 'Salespersons / Employees' car might be currently being driven by Motoring Journalists and others.

VORSPRUNG DURCH TECHNIK.

Tell them nothing, or make it up and and they will be none the wiser.

So not cars you'd really want to own after being driven to death by all and sundry including "journalists". :)

Some can be wonderful and the best versions built,

ie they were top spec and have a better check over before leaving the factory,

I like a Press / Media car,   if the Price is Right.

Some of us have the first built vRS Mk2 Fabias and 5 years on they are all good.

Its a Lottery.

I guess I'm purely going by the way I usually behave in cars that don't belong to me, hire cars etc. Especially fast one. Usually rag them to hell and back.

Not sure how many press GTIs there are in the UK. Nearly every review I've trawled through (and I've read a lot of coverage of it) the cars were test driven in Valencia, with most reviews using the standard VW press shots for illustration.

Yes it is a Slow Burn on the Launch & Media Coverage of the Right Hand Drive 2015 VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI Manual & DSG 3 or 5 doors.

Maybe something to do with the Hype they gave the Audi S1 2014,  and the pathetic UK Car Sales,

& then the All New Skoda 3rd Generation Fabia getting 'What Car's Car of the Year'  before it was even on sale.

So they need some decent Launch in the UK of the VW Polo GTI,

No mention of the Lemons they built 2010-2014 with the 1.4 TSI that VW have never accepted were and can still be faulty.

Volkswagen have had long enough now to get the Polo GTI 1.8TSI perfect right from the off.

Its going to be lovely to get the chance to drive a UK Right hand version with DSG.

Bring them on.

I guess a £25K supermini isn't on many people's shopping lists. :)

Not great sales so far with the Seat Leon Cupra 265/280 & they are great value,

and Dealers now need to talk sensible money to get them sold.

It is maybe best to never look at Sales Figures & the success of sales with the Volkswagen Group because it is always Smoke & Mirrors.

There is the Audi 2014 S1 thread in the Fabia 2 section as some of us have been looking at First Registered UK Cars,

Demonstrators etc & the Audi Used car Sales, or lack of.

A bit like the 2010-2014 VW Polo GTI 1.4 TSI & Audi A1 1.4 TFSI 185ps 2011-2014,

First Registered only 1,300 Polo GTI and under 500 A1 185 in the UK over 4 - 4 1/2 years.

Most got First Registered as Demonstrators, Management & others not to actual Private Buyers or on Lease,

but the VWG Media spin as though these were some success as the UK like Hot Hatches

and they tend go on about the Skoda Fabia vRS not selling well, yet the 3 sister car having been a poor seller,

even the Skoda CEO says they were not selling as a high enough percentage of the brand,

yet twice as many were First Registered & then sold new or used as both the VW & Audi 132-136 kw Twinchargers.

VORSPRUNG DURCH TECHNIK

Just fiddle the figures, Motoring Journalist and Editors will never notice, or just play the 3 monkeys.
