I posted a link to a video last year about a day made of glass.

 

Stumbled across the below video this evening that elaborates on the video which really makes you think about what is possible in the future!

I hope we get to this level of technology within my lifetime.

    AutoGlass better had up there game also  :D

    I can see this happening in the next 5-10 years. Look how much technology has changed in the last 5. I saw something on tv about about a chemical called Graphene. If it's true what they were saying it could change our lives.

    For at least two of those there has to be a complete sea change in attitude; windfarms/solar panel sites: spoils the view, affects the value of my home, NIMBY.

    A few years ago there were a few companies based in Scotland that were leaders in the field of wave/tidal power, due to a combination of lack of investment and opposition to it the companies either relocated or sold the technology, and now Spain and Portugal are the leaders in this technology.

    Personally, I'm all for wind, solar and tidal power. Due to the age and lack of investment and the fact most of our energy suppliers are now foreign owned, there is the possibility by 2018, or even sooner, the UK may be facing regular black outs. There is at least one, are possibly two, power stations closing in Scotland by the end of this year as the energy companies who own them are not prepared to spend the huge costs involved to modernise them.

    Graphene already exists and is in use, oh, and it isnt a chemical.

    Bringing it together: graphene might be used to make the conductive layer on flexible touchscreens.

     

    As far as I know, graphene is carbon atoms arranged in flat hexagons, ie a single layer of graphite.

    Nuclear, clean safe and sustainable.........as well as Hydrogen power.

    Personally, I'm all for wind, solar and tidal power.

    WIND- now if someone could invest in turbines in Westminster and Edinburgh- the MP/MSP could power almost the UK mainland.

    And a heat exchanger since the air from those particular sources is hot.

    Unfortunately, it immediately makes me think about how much technology will be held back, or only released in minor incremental upgrades, to maximise the amount of money a few people can make from it.

    If it weren't about people making money, we'd all be flying to work by now and the concept of 'solution looking for a problem' wouldn't even exist!

    You'll have to deal with the marketing wonks first. for now they're not interested in anything that doesn't include AI or blockchain. But a bit like 3D TV 99% of people don't really give a ****.
