Apart from the price?

Size of screen.... Amundsun is about 6" and Columbus is 8"

Columbus will integrate with usb without mitsumi I believe also

You also have a (about what 30GB?) HDD integrated in the Colombus.

This is supposed to be quicker than the standard sat nav which data is stored on the SD card.

But I don't actually find particularly slow the standard one.

And for your music, the standard one allows for a second SD card, so really no capacity issue.

Also, personal POI can apparently be added in the Colombus while this is not possible in the Amundsen.

But bottomline, I beleive the main difference is the look of the oversized screen, and of course its associated price.

The standard Amundsen unit is basically the Bolero but with an SD driven navigation module.

In truth theres probably not lots of difference between them in terms of processing hardware but key differences are larger higer res screen, slightly more detailed 3D mapping, 30Gb SSD drive holding nav data and able to hold around 9GB of audio (jukebox) but still has 2 x SD slots so capable of holding two loaded SD cards of music (believe map updates are still performed via an appropriately sized SD card.

The drive in the Columbus is also a DVD drive so is able to play movies at a standstill...also if you spec Canton you get 5.1 surround with an appropriate DVD audio source.

The USB can as others have said handle Apple devices natively too.

I think the Columbus is a really nice unit and of course is better than the Amundsen in most respects.....but I wouldnt personally pay to have it as IMHO Amundsen is more than adequate.
