Bonnet release, the orange bit

Featured Replies

Hello,

Went to open the bonnet earlier, usually you pull the handle in the drivers footwell, then pull the orange release that comes through the grill.  This bit has disappeared.

Does anyone have any tips to get this open, or is there a diagram of the mechanism so I can try and see what remains of it?

Took a pic of mine for you if it's any use?

Cheers, I'll have a look when it get light

Think mine went a bit stiff at one point, I took it off the car (it's tight but you can) and cleaned/wd40'd it, been fine since

Try this. When you pull on lever in footwell.get a helper to hold it up or place anything under it to keep it up without breaking.

Then go to bonnet and push down on hood where the release is. (Couple of times) maybe needed.you should feel a click

Hopefully it should pop up with luck.then you will need to lubricate all the bits you see in tmb pic.

I actually used vaseline lol.does the job.

White grease aerosol all my locks and hinges etc, every year, usually in the summer.

Include wiper mechanisms I spray grease with pipe extention through the grille, wiper (plenum) chamber cover, saves me removing wiper arms etc..LOL
