Skoda got spec wrong - need aftermarket front sensor options

Featured Replies

Would appreciate any insights into the following.

Picked up a well spec'd Octavia just over a week ago. Once home, it was discovered the Dealer had fitted front assist instead of front parking sensors.

They have admitted it is their mistake and that they will rectify as best they can.

I wanted factory fit front sensors to ensure I got visible radar display on audio screen, as well as the beeps! Car already has rear sensors and camera that were factory fitted.

Can anyone advise if there is an aftermarket solution to get front sensors that also tie-in to display screen, or something better that audible front sensors only?

Thanks in advance

If its a brand new car, then as it isn't the car you ordered, you can hand it back and get them to order you a new one. If the worst comes to the worst that is.

If there isn't a aftermarket solution thats perfect then back it goes to the dealers, right royal PITA but, there it is.

However, you've only said you "WANTED" and not said you needed "NEEDED" factory fitted front sensors !!!  I think you could have yourself a lot of bargaining to do, te car has been registered to you therefore, its value has plumeted, check WEBUYANYCAR, I'd say its probably dropped £2 or 3K

Food for thought.

It may be worth approaching http://poollretrofits.com/ to see if the front sensors can be retrofitted, they already do this for Golf MK7 so should be very similar for O3.

I've bought my O3 used and it only has rear sensors, and I'm looking to have front ones installed later too, so if you use the company above please keep us posted on how you get on.

Hi

There is such a kit :- http://www.carsystems.pl/skoda-octavia-3-5e-park-pilot-front-w-ops-5q0919294b-upgrade-kit,id890.html

I am waiting for this kit to be fitted to my vRS. Once coded in it will give the display on the screen. The only problem is that I have had to order the correct switch bank (with the correct set of buttons), which is waiting for me at my friendly Skoda dealer. As it's the dealers fault it should be down to them it fit and pay for. But it's a very costly mistake- say £300 for parts and£200 for fitting!!

If its a factory order dealer error, make them order you a new car, in the meantime demand to keep the current car until the new one arrives. I'd be fuming if that was me!!

Thanks for the feedback - annoyingly the sensors were on the order form I reviewed and approved, but at some point their admin team changed the option to front assist (useful, but never on my wish list).

I have sent a message to poollretrofits and will also advise dealer of the carsystem option.

Hopefully better solution all round, as opposed to final option  of returning!

Use it, abuse it, and then get the correct one.

Id reject the car but ask that you have use of it until the new car to the correct spec arrives.

An OEM retrofit wont be that straightforward and most dealers (in the UK at least) would probably refuse on grounds of complexity.
