Changing console bushes, what else would you change?

Featured Replies

Fabia is on 130k and I am going to be getting the console bushes changes at darkside within the next couple of weeks. Is there anything else worth changing at the same time?

Thanks!

Think I priced it up at about 100quid using decent parts from ecp, but that's not including rear console bushes

It depends if their are any parts that are worn. The front wishbone bushes are normally ok as it's the rear bush that takes most of the abuse, anti-roll bar bushes but only if they are worn, it may be worth looking at the track rod ends.

I would say that because you are getting Darkside to do the work I would just ask them for their professional advice, their is no point replacing parts just for the sake of it unless you really want too.

I've just got a quote to change the lot, so figure might as well get the 5quid part replaced as if someone else has the proper tools etc and it isn't gonna cost me more than the part itself. As it will save the job in the future, that's my logic for the front console anyway

Thanks guys!

Given it's on 130K I would change as much as you can to reduce on the labour costs. As said above it's pointless doing the job twice should something else fail. Parts are relatively inexpensive and you should get that 'new' or 'newer' car feel from doing it. I'd also look at the engine mounts, the power-flex dog bone mount is a good mod and check the gearbox mount too, I noticed mine has started to crack/perish while I was fixing my 12v starter wire today  :|
