Black vue in car Camera.

Featured Replies

Thinking about getting one of these. You can get a power magic thingy which prevents battary drain on the car.

Do you really need one.? Do they use so much power

Any other camera you can suggest, software must be Mac Compatable,

Cheers

Road hawk HD or RH2, I only have mine wired to ign live as it's always parked out the way.

I had the smart power adaptor supplied with my 500 Andy, but never bothered fitting it as I'd already got the power supply going via a switched live so can't say if it's any good or not. Hopefully someone will let us both know!

I had it in my fab and is now in the Jag, It never switched the camera off in the Fab. Did exactly what it was meant to reason I didn't fit it into Clio - I just didn't need to as I'm never really parked anywhere worth worrying about. I've still got to fit the camera to the XJ

Möbius

I have the Dod LS300W very good quality camera a bit larger than most look at techmoans reviews on the tube, unbiased he has mac himself which the Dod are compatable with.

The Blackvue running all the time will drain the battery so the car won't start after about 6 or 7 days.

If you use the car regularly a power magic is not really needed.

But I just wired mine to work off an ignition live anyway so no worries.

Go Möbius. Much cheaper, mac compatible and excellent quality. I fit all cameras with a hidden switch to swap between ignition and perm live. These cameras don't drain a lot of battery anyway, as Bossfox says, you pretty much have to go on holiday and leave it running to have problems.

Möbius too here. A great little camera [emoji106]

Installed a Blackvue DR650GW-2CH the other day in the Yeti. I can confirm that it is possible to run the cable for the rear camera through the grommets between body and hatch. Very pleased with myself for managing to hide the cable all the way from front camera to rear camera.

For limiting the battery drain, I plan to install this: REUK LVD

I'm wanting to fit a camera to my car, I don't want a big camera with a screen on as I want is as discrete as possible, that said I'd like one with wifi/Bluetooth so I can access and watch the recordings on my phone instantly like with a go pro. What options would people recommend?

I have an E Prance 0801 with GPS  as recommended by FUBAR, remove the SD card and view on my Mac

Excellent piece of kit, very small and discrete.......

I've a Mi-Witness which is similar and comes with a smart power thing.

It appears to work fine, the mi-witness stays on until (it goes into parking mode after 5mins) the power drops and then switches off.

It's turned off once when I left the wireless dongle in and active for a couple of days without driving very far.

I'd try find something with slight more resolution that the mi-witness - their tech support kind-of acknowledged the camera is not on a par with others now, and their advice was simply to read out and record, or write down important number plates.

I was catching up with a mate from the R36Owners forum tonight and he was asking

about the Blackvue install and options for continuous standby mode and no battery drain.

I have sent him the link to this thread as a start.... thanks guys.
