Q1 for Best Deals?

Featured Replies

Just got off the phone to broadspeed who seemed very honest and helpful.

He said the price they have quoted me for my Octavia Elegance 1.4 TSD with 2k worth of options would be £21k however if I wanted to purchase this car on the current 0% PCP deal, it would put the price up around £1400 as the dealers wouldn’t have that much more room for margins.

He advised me that if it was defo the 0% PCP I was after, then to purchase from the dealers directly.

He also advised that if it was this was definitely the car I wanted, to make an order by the end of this week as the first quarter of the year the dealers have better deals and margins to play with and he very much doubts that in April the same offers will stand (he believes with his 25+ years worth of experience that the price will increase by 1k in April for the same deals).

Lastly he advised that I would need to put an order by the end of this week if I wanted to make sure the deal got accepted as it takes 4 days from the factory order being received and contract accepted...

Can someone confirm how true all this is please?

Very smelly, and it ain't Fields or Cows, no it bull**** defo.  Your contract is with the dealer, nothing to do with the factory accepting the order, I placed my order the 28-12-13 when the factory was closed and the Q4 deal finished 31-12-13, no problems what so ever.

There are a couple of dealers on here that post he next quarter deals usually 3 or 4 days in advance so, still with plenty of time to order from whomever really wants the business.

I'd be very wary of that salesman if I were you Chris.

Thanks for the response.

hmmm why would he advise wrongly when he has clearly advised me to go to a dealer to purchase the car as they wouldn't be able to get me a good deal on a PCP?

Could it be some sort of strategy or could there be some truth to it?

Sorry I didn't appreciate Broadspeeed are an online brooker and thought the were just your local dealer, if he can't compete with dealerships on PCP then he's floggy a dead horse by even talking to you and has told you as much.  If you're going PCP, as I said in your other thread, ring around the dealers and see if anybody can do any better discount considering the end of quarter is near and they may need your sale to make a quota.

Chris, that's the best thing I've read all day. An honest salesperson really wouldn't be employed for very long. It's the most cut throat industry there is.

Octavia Elegance 1.4 TSD with 2k worth of options would be £21k however if I wanted to purchase this car on the current 0% PCP deal, it would put the price up around £1400 as the dealers wouldn’t have that much more room for margins.

Clearly shows that the '0%' deal is nothing of the sort. Its a finance deal that costs you £1400.

Seriously, the importance and relevance of end of month or quarter offers are deteriorating but they are still over played massively. Sales targets are generally no a longer set date so some organisations may have the 15th of the month as their cut off window for sales to be included in that reporting period and others may have the 10th. It can be any date. Similarly, dealerships will have targets for a given period of time. When I bought mine, the dealer had just been given their sales targets for the next time the regional sales manager was visiting... which was in 6 weeks time. However, it had only been 4 weeks since the manager set the last target.

People in sales roles can't be too easy to read or predictable . If they were, no one would buy a car at the start of the month as they'd wait till the end and no one would buy in March as they would wait till April.  It's not that simple anymore. If you get a good deal it's because of good negotiations and not because of the date you haggled on.

Oh, and the contract is accepted once you pay your deposit. As money transfer is instant, if you pay by card, the date you pay is when the salesperson can be sure of their commission. There is no 4 days nonsense. To be honest, it sounds like the person you spoke to was full of it.
