fuel economy - 1.4 TDi 90PS DSG

Featured Replies

Hi all

Am thinking about getting the fabia or octavia.

What is the "real world" average mpg to be expected (1.4 TDi 90PS DSG) for town and motorway driving? compared to the official figures :

70.6  urban cycle

83.1 extra urban

78.5  combined

Many thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Has anyone actually taken ownership of a New 2015 Fabia with the 1.4TDI 90ps DSG ?

Maybe worth checking what VW Polo drivers have been getting in the real world.

Will be getting my estate SEL DSG 1.4TDI within the next week or so.

I have been burned with expected mpg before, and now use the Urban cycle figure as the real world figure.

Having said that, I will be perfectly happy with anything over 60mpg, but I do expect to hit 70's every once in a while.

I will let you know when I have it, and have done a few miles.

Kev.

got the petrol engine but can confirm you won't get published figures, very much like the mk2 - think the figures are very deceiving..

i'm currently running an average of around 42-43mpg thats a mixture of driving styles in 700 miles.

Which petrol engine, Adam?

1.2 TSI 110 with manual 6spd box

Well, I would expect Skoda's figures are based on the smallest wheel fitted to the car for testing.. bigger tyres = more drag/resistance don't forget so lower mpg figures..  they also probably didn't have a full size spare wheel in the boot to reduce weight on their tests aswell.. so bear it in mind.. also turn off all the extras, air con, climate, keep windows shut, no music on, keep the Bolero off, lights off, heated seats off and then do another test - see if you get a better return.. I'll be getting a Mk3 Hatch 1.4TDi 105 very soon, so I will start posting figures as soon as.. If I can get 77mpg out of my Mk1, I'm expecting more than 90mpg in the new car.. not long to find out..

Many keep their car in a garage with heating,

but then you can not drive to work or with passengers inside so the Current Testing has nothing to do with driving a car outside.

Comparisons as they say.,

Real World, Cold Mornings UK Average Ambient Temperatures, head or Side or tails winds and carrying passengers does not even enter the equation.

The NEDC is for comparison only. A new driving cycle showing more realistic figures are coming, but probably not before 2018.
