trying to find fuse for rear ciggy socket

Featured Replies

Hi all, in my Estate boot, there is a cigar socket which had a broken plug removed from it. I think it shorted during me trying to pull out bits of cigar plug.

I have looked at the fuses, according to the diag its a 15amp big blue fuse in the middle. However I think its the small 5 amp red fuse on the third row under the line of blanks. I can't get a pic at the moment, can someone help?? Many thanks.

I can't believe the cigar socket would be any more than 5 amps?

It is possible to tell if the fuse has blown by looking at it.

If the thin metal strip has broken the fuse has popped. Just check them both...

Yer the red one looks like the pins are dusty brown, of course I just left the motor factors. I might go back and try one. Trying to find something on google to help with the fuse board layout as the diagram does'nt seem to be correct! Unless its just me.

Yeah the diagram in the lid of the fusebox isn't ideal - it is a mirror reflection.

The best way to look at it is to note the outer shape of the fuse box and correlate that back to the illustration on the inside of the lid.

You need fuse number 26...

That's the fuse i check, but it made no differance. I wonder if the ciggy socket has a fuse behind it?

Thanks for your help anyway )

If it shorted whilst you were digging out the broken plug from the socket then the fuse should be the weak point in the system (as designed) and popped.

If the fuse is OK and you can be sure there is no power to the socket then I suspect further damage may have been caused to the socket?

Well, its all very odd cos I can't see anything wrong with the socket, having compared it to the other one, unless the piggy back connector has come off the rear. Any ideas how the socket comes out? I tried twisting it but it won;t budge. Might have to wait till the weekend, cars in next week to the dealers so might just get them to look at it.

I think I read somewhere that the switch in the drivers door for the rear electric windows also turns the socket in the boot off.

Umm confused as it was working before the pump was unplugged. How does this switching thing work?

Found it, it was the 20amp one next to the one in your post above! Sockets now working.
