Ok so the mechanic has had my car now for 3weeks. Due to it needing a replacement gearbox and a new clutch too

The gearbox that was originally in had the code ggu. The one thats being fitted has ewt.

On wednesday the mechanic told me he had brought the wrong clutch. so ok i thought simple mistake.it will be sorted today. Nope infact hes got the wrong one again today .hes told me the gbox ive got will fit but the splines on shaft have 2more than the older one.and now waiting for the CORRECT one to come from manchester

So can someone please tell me if you think he actually is bull****ting. Or infact hes wasting my time because surely a mechanic should know exactly what hes looking at?

Don't know if what he's saying about the splines is true, but it can be a frustrating process trying to mix match different parts.

Eg, your car is a 1.2

Your fitting a 1.4 gearbox

You need a clutch that fits a 1.2 flywheel and a 1.4 gearbox, it's going to be some trial and error.

It was frustrating trying to find the pd100 5speed box as theres 3 diff codes for my box. But i would of thought the guy would have looked at it compared splines and then relayed this info too a specialist but hey ho
