£79 a corner fitted for F1A2 is an excellent price. Infact 50p  corner cheaper than the Hankooks!

I guess I meant across the industry; there seems to be some standard sizes such as 205/55/16, 225/45/17, 225/40/18 etc When you have one of these non-common sizes they get spendy :-( My parents have a 9-3 convertible which came with some 215/4x/17 as standard but has limited choice and are expensive. Thankfully 225/45/17 is a suitable alternative and is approved so much nicer!

It's the standard fit tyre on the Vectra - 235 35 19".  There are some cheap Chinese tyres that will fit that cost about £50, but having experienced some that were on the car when I bought it all I can say is that it's a brave person that chooses to fit them!

Unfortunately alot of people will see the £50 ones and think that'll do. Such a false economy; I have had cheap tyres on cars before and they've lasted no time at all.

The longevity of the cheap tyres is definitely a factor, but it's more the ditch finding capabilities that worries me. 

Had my 205/40/17 Ventus V12 evo 2s on for a couple of dry runs now and first impressions are very good - grip seems much better than the Rainsport 2s, and I haven't noticed any softness in the sidewalls
