Anyway was saying, that I can't reverse park the vrs estate at least not at anything other than an obsure angle!

I must look a right plonker opening the door to check the line. It's the first estate I've gca so probably just me, but was wondering if the door / window bows outwards, ad I'm even out when I line up with a car next to me!

On well I'll just stick to driving into spaces from now on - at least until I bin of kill this car

I'm with you on this. I can position the car straight between the white lines using the mirrors down and the side of the car, get out and find it sitting at an angle. I'm usually okay between 2 parked cars, but not when I'm just using the white lines. I haven't worked put why yet, maybe I should start relying on the Park Assist. 

I think I must be a bit OCD as I then go and look at it out of my office window, but after 10 mins or so I have to go and move it - maybe I'll stick to parent and child spaces (I have the kids / child seats)

Got to be honest, I find myself opening the drivers door to check where the white line is when reverse parking with no other cars either side. I've not got the dipping passenger mirror on the O3 but my last car, an S2 had the full electric memory pack with the dippy mirror so in the 4 yrs I had that I must have gradually lost the ability to park straight, weird!

I've no problem with reverse parking. Can't parallel park though!

I've noticed I need to check where lines are a bit, and often end up 8" from a curb when I thought I was half that. The doors do bulge out a fair bit below the mirrors and the mirrors are short, so it's pretty hard/not possible to see the wheels well even with the mirror dipped.

The mirrors on the mk3 are smaller than the mk2 too and don't give such a good view IMO which won't help. I always found reversing an estate gave me a better idea where the rear corners and back end were as well

I thought it was just me this happens to. Nearly every time I reverse Park, all indications from the view in the mirrors I'm bang in the middle of the lines, get out and I'm bloody squint.

This is the only car I've had issues when reverse parking into a bay.

How is the quality on the Octavia camera? And how does it cope with darkness?

And how fast does it dirty?

The quality isn't great but it's usable. Can't comment on darkness, since I have yet to drive at night. It does get some dirt on it when you drive and apparently gets wet when you open the tailgate, but it's luckily easy to clean, and needs to be pretty covered before visibility is impaired.

Yep, initially had this problem. I reverse using the mirrors, but finish by looking at the front. My mk 2 was the same. I assume it's the body shape or something. Got the hang of it quickly though

I've found my Mk3 estate MUCH easier to park than my Mk1 hatch.  I owned that for 9 years, and still had no idea where the back of the car was when reversing.

I opted for park assist for my hew Yeti because I haven't been able to park parallel to the kerb or square on in car parks since having to wear varifocals. But the bonus of having those lenses is that I never park too close to kerbs or other cars.

I agree its not the easiest vehicle to park straight....the piddly wing mirrors dont really help matters and I struggled at times the same with my Mk6 Golf (which had the exact same mirrors)

I used to have more problems reverse parking with the Mk2 estate.

I put this down to the fact there was a fairly pronounced 'boat-tailing' of the body (narrower at the back) and trying to park with the wide angle (distorting)side mirrors threw too many variables into the exercise.

The Mk3 estate has less obvious narrowing at the back than the Mk2 (better width in interior for passengers and boot) and I find it easier to reverse park than the mk2

i found the same issue, think it must be down to the angle of view of the mirror, i have similar issue reversing it down the side od the house, its a 14 plate vrs estate, i have no reversing issues with either my 83 rs 1600i escort or the mrs new shape fabia
