Dash cam

Featured Replies

Bought an e prance dash cam today and found out that the cigarette lighter always stays on!

Is there anyone who could spare some time to help hardwire it in for me... Beer tokens or whatever :). I don't trust myself. I'm in Cheshire but I can come to you?

Not local so can't help with fitting but I can post up some links for the bits I bought and some tips for fitting it if that would help? Are you fitting it up by the rear view mirror?

Thanks mate, for the time being I've fitted it using one of those 3 to 1 cigarette lighter boxes with a switch on it. I've just been switching that box on and off. Is it a big job? I don't trust myself not to break something else haha. Yes it's up by the rear view mirror.

I removed the part of the dash under the steering wheel which was a bit of a faff but made it much easier to get to everything. I bought a 12V to dual 5V USB adapter from eBay and used one to power the dash cam and the other end going into the cubby hole below the stereo so I can charge my phone on the go. I piggybacked the rear wiper fuse (comes on with ignition) and ran the USB cable for the dash cam down the inside of the A pillar. The A pillar trim is easy to remove and the USB cable tucks in perfectly between the windscreen and head lining.
