Try an m14x1.5 tap (thread chaser is better if you can find one but a tapered tap will do)

Run that through and see if a wheel bolt will tighten up before you go looking at inserts

I bought this kit some years ago, thread taps start from minor cut up to the full thread tap cut.

Garage tyre guy, lost his popularity with me after I found-out what he had done, with wheel bolt thread...LOL

 

Bought the kit for about £10- £12.00 at an tool shop locally..(I think) sorry..
