kia Venga... opinions and experiences please...

Featured Replies

Looking at getting the missus a slightly larger car due to the citigo being a bit tight in the boot for getting the pram etc in.

Thinking fabia size car, will be checking out the new furby, but looking at options. Dont much like the look of i20. Fiesta is too pricy for the use it will get at mid range spec.

polo the same and ibiza a bit basic looking inside.

So i looked at online brochure for kia venga. Loks alright and well priced...

any opinions? As mostly town and short journeyz wil be going petrol...

Thankz in advance

I find the windscreen pillar very dangerous because you really get a blind spot.

But that is something you will be aware of or not with a road test.

I might not have said this a few years ago, but things change.

Kia Rio.

& the smart choice,  Suzuki Swift.

New Vitara being launched just now, 2 & 4wd.

Going to have to locate a dealer and look at the venga properly.. whose tech do they use in their stuff? I doubt its all in house?

Swmbo drove a swift, last one, didnt like the driving position or feel of the gearing. Plus i duno is the boot bigger enough...

vitara is unnecessary tbh, too big for whats needed. Have my octy for load lugging and distance driving.

Kia tech is all in house. They are part of Hyundai so there is parts sharing there. The original cars used parts from various other manufacturers but now it's all them.

My mum got a brand new one a week or so ago. Changed from a 4yo 1.2 Fabia. The newest facelift model. We're all so impressed with it. To go against what's said above, we all find the vision in it outstanding. There's loads of adjustability in the seat and so much glass! My mum is 4'11"... Fortunately I took after my Dad and am 6'0"... But suits us both. Plenty of room inside. Loads of gadgets. Load space is massive when the seats go flat - which itself is FAR easier and quicker to do than in the old Fabia estate.

She's got the 1.6 auto. Level 3 I think. It's fine in city driving - bit gutless when you floor it, but fine for her. Worst thing is the fuel consumption... So far it's truly awful - on par with my Dad's 3.6 V6 Superb! - but that's down to the old fashioned torque converter box I think.

But otherwise its such a good car and my parents are chuffed with it.

Tech-wise there's a new 7" touchscreen. I haven't used the Nav in anger yet, but set it all up for her and I was impressed by it. Bluetooth faultless. DAB. Rear sensors fine, although a little quiet. Heated seats. Rear view camera!

The only other minus point is that, compared with the Fabia, there's a bit of a lack of storage in the cabin - cubby holes, pockets etc.

If I think of anything else I'll add it. Feel free to ask any questions.

Oh, you get a space saver too. That was a minimum pre-req for my parents - didn't want any of that gunk nonsense.

My Dad is so impressed with the little Kia he's on standby to test drive the new 2015 Sorento when it comes out in the next couple of weeks.

I too was a bit shocked when I opened my boot to find a full size spare in there. Standard equipment rather that an option or a bottle of goo.

Plus, the 7 year warranty.

Drive the Deal are offering these:

SEAT IBIZA SPORT COUPE SPECIAL EDITION 1.4 TOCA 3DR

for £8495. Seems a good price, but only a 3 door though, so that might rule it out.

Lots of New & Demonstrator Skoda sitting at Dealers and can be had at Much Cheapness & that includes MK2 Fabia which are now Discontinued.

Then when there are enough All New 3rd Generation Fabia in the UK there will be discounts because the RRP is crazy as usual.

then there are going to be the Demonstrators now in the Dealers being sold in 3 months / 3000 miles.

They could be a bargain with a realistic price from a Dealership, not the Asking Prices as advertised.

Buyers Market, and desperate dealers a plenty.

Especially VW Dealerships.

1.4 TSI ACT engines cars maybe worth a look at from Seat or VW.

EDIT. PS

As to Ireland and pricing and new cars sales, i have no idea the situation currently, how things are with the Euro,

or car specs.

I had one of these as a courtesy car, it was great.

Perfect for the pushchair and I'm under the impression there are some serious discounts available now at SEAT?

I only realised this morning that Venga is actually bigger than the Rio.... mostly taller so kinda a like a Golf Plus or CMax.

Really need to get a dealer and have a proper look at them.

I prefer the Hyundai version the ix20 -nicer styling, but it's the same car as the Venga

It's decribed as a mini-MPV. The seating position is very high.
