Vrs hatch rear light cluster fitment

Featured Replies

Had some time to look over my vrs hatch shut lines etc and it seems well screwed together, even panel gaps etc up until i had a close look at the rear light clusters. They are tight onto the rear 1/4 etc but the elevation that sits on the rear bumper is flush on the rear 1/4 section but as you run your finger along towards the tailgate, it sticks out about 2mm. This is the same both sides. Anal i know but considering poor fit, water egress etc allover the canton sub :-0 i get no creaks or rattles........ Yet!

The rear bumper all lines up perfect with rear arches, tailgate all good.

Posted a pic of the area to give you an idea. Is this how they are?

Anybody?

I felt up my wagon's rear end and found that the right light sticks out from the bumper just slightly (1-2mm) more than the left light.

I've seen worse fits.

You can see from that photo it's just the shape of the bumper, it may be improved by take the bumper off and refitting.

If its fairly standard across the board then i'm not overly concerned. I seem to recall from the production video that its fitted by hand and the machine just assists on metal ropes to lift it into place.

Mines the same as yours, both sides, VRS TSI Hatch,.....

My VRS TSI hatch is also the same as yours. I've had the car for 14 months and I'd never noticed this. Perhaps my OCD isn't as bad as I thought it was! But now I wish I hadn't looked at this detail!

At £27.5k, believe me, i check lol

It would be interesting to hear from owners of non-VRS hatchbacks whether their cars exhibit this "feature".

Bindinbear,

It's the same on my Elegance Combi...

I removed the rear clusters many times (retrofitted some LED bulbs).

All you can do is positioning them a little bit higher or lower with the 2 screw...

Don't worry about water ingress, there is a sealing lip on the back side around the electrical connector.
