Muppet re headphones question...

Featured Replies

How do I get music to bypass the speakers and come out of my desktop PC on headphones please?

My "tower" has 5 speakers attached and a "shoe-box" size thingy. Anyone know what I should unplug or what to plug the headphones into?

Too little info I know, but the primary question is how to lose the speakers and get the headphones, so I'll ask if there's a simple answer first, if I may.

Thank you

Mo

sounds to me like you have surround sound plugged in.... on back of your PC (tower) there should be a pink socket for headphones to go into (nr where speakers are pluged in currently)

To get only headphones click little speaker icon in bottom right corner of screen and mute speakers.

Thank you :) So far so good - I have a pink socket. Don't have an icon in my tray as I clean these out and delete unnecessary items from start-up menu periodically.

I have some music facilities (progs) loaded at purchase (of OEM) and some progs subsequently loaded. Would the speaker icon be a function of a specific programme please, or part of MS Internet Explorer inbuilt facility that I would activate through control panel please?

Thank you

Mo

have a look through the programs loaded. If all else fails... unplug speakers

Plugged into pink, unplugged speakers from green and black = headphones work :woohoo:

That's brilliant, since helpline advice didn't get me that far and Googling didn't, so I gave up :o (A good while ago.)

I can try to sort out the icon option at my leisure (I know there was one at one point).

IOW I now know it can be done and just need to get to grips with the sophisticated "either or bit".

good good

Theres an option to show the icon in the 'Sounds & Audio Devices' section of Control Panel
