eco map done.egr delete

Featured Replies

Ive been close attention to this forum for months now about remaps and egr deletes and inperticular fitting blanking plates

Ive recently had the eco map fitted to my pd100. As id had a powermap fitted prior. Although it was fun. My heavy right foot was costing me a fortune powermap was seeing on a good run around 56mpg

With ecomap 63.9mpg

Anyways i asked the guy who did my eco. To delete the egr. He told me that it had been deleted with old map. Shocked as i never was told this with old map. He the proceeded to with map and left the egr delete on

I asked should i blank it off. He said all you need to do is take the thin black top hose of egr and block it off with a screw and then wrapped it out of way.

When car goes for mot it wont fail and it wont be noticed. Therefore no need for taking egr apart for these expensive kits ppl buy!!

As hes a mechanic ive taken his word for it

If by the thin black top hose he means the vac line then it is pointless to do this if it is mapped out, more often than not mapping out the egr just entails keeping the egr off, instead of letting it open at low revs.

If you have it mapped out it is true you do not need the expensive kit, however I would recomend blanking out the pipe that feeds the egr from the exhaust manifold, even mapped off and disconecting vac line egrs can fail over time and start to let exhaust gas in anyway,

Ok cheers for input. Yes mines been mapped out. But like you say i thought it still had to be blanked. He doesnt seem to hard a job. As i work for a sheet metal firm. I can cut form the material needed.
