Intermittent smoking issue

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

My engine is 1.8t AUM (150bhp). I started her up the other day and it was smoking straight away and wouldn't go away. Turned the engine off and back on a few times eventually it stopped.

Changed the oil & spark plugs today (two were loose) started her up again & straight away it started to smoke! What I can tell is it's blue smoke. Smelly!

Looked unto the car, and noticed the black s shape pipe ( rubber pipe with coupling type) it was caked in oil. Pulled the pipe off the throttle body & there was oil in there too. Could this be my issue? U cleaned it out of the throttle body as much as I could without removing anything, started her up & smoked so I turned on/off again & it was fine

Scratching my head here guys any ideas?

Blown turbo?

To get oil in the throttle body, only place i can think of is the turbo. Oh wait....is your turbo water cooled or oil cooled?
