Original Review by: black magic - 1st October 2004

Great roads from Kilmahog to Aberfoyle, only problem is that the Fabia gets airborne too easily, will have to get stiffer dampers. Great road for 4 wheel sliding. Watch out at Loch katrine junction, bus drivers can't see out of junction. Give it a go.

Also watch out for a couple of nasty hairpins on the descent into Aberfoyle village, remembering that anyone enthusiastic enough to be getting air will have hot brakes by this time.

Good shout Ken. I grew up around this area (and was a member of Aberfoyle GC) and i think i know the particular turn at the top of the hill into Aberfoyle - where if you come in a bit hot, airborne or just light on the balance of the car..... added to moist road and leaves..... can leave you just fighting the car round that corner!!! Its a big drop if you misjudge it!

Still - i've been working in Yorkshire for 10 years now - and only a couple of weeks ago did the road from Calendar to Crianlarich stopping off at Killin then onwards to Oban. Bloody awsome drive and my first time up there in the VRS. Superb!!!

Further thought, if you're passing at the right sort of time of day, the "Brig o' Turk Tearoom" is well worth a visit for a snack or light meal. (No connection other than as satisfied > customer).

i live not too far from there the dukes pass is a awseome road so is the a81 and stockiemuir road leading up to it

Stockiemuir road is great!!!!

well if you are heading up here again id reccomend a stop at the carbeth inn :)

Carbeth Inn is no longer there, drive on the Stockiemuir Road on a regularly.

Only have a Fabia III with a 1.0 Ltr Engine but its still a great road to drive as the latest 3 pot Petrol engine is very nippy.
