windscreen repair

Featured Replies

I had an unfortunate lorry drivers stone kick up misery y/day

Could be worse. it only chipped my paint a bit on the left pillar and left a bullseye style crack with a bit of a longer crack to it, but on the far passenger left quite close to edge, managed to cover it inside by relocating one of my car stickers for now so its out of mind!

I'm wondering if anyone has tried the resin themselves DIY as its hardly bad enough to warrant paid for repair, well my insurers a bit of a con as it seems this counts as either a claim or excess so probably even cheaper to do yourself.

As there is a risk of screen cracking with the resin anyway I was actually wondering about using clear epoxy over it instead, as I won't be looking though it where it is anyway so visibility isn't the question.

All I'd say is don't do it when the windscreen is hot from the sun etc as it more likely to crack off, I work for autoglass they crack more often when it's warm and you try to repair them

the car im breaking got a brand new front tinted window in it if interested ?

Why not just get the screen replaced.  It sounds as if the damage is such that a professional repair is not possible.

It will only get worse and proboably at the most inconvenient time, on MOT day!

Had mine changed about a month ago by Auto Windscreens.  It only took an hour and they did a very good job.
