Idiot Driver Warning Light

Featured Replies

Took the work Superb (1.9tdi) out recently and decided to have a bit of a play - wasn't going overly quick but cornering a bit sharper than is perhaps the norm. Suddenly, the handbrake light started flashing - went off after a short while.

Is this an 'Idiot Driver' warning light or something else??

Perhaps that's the ASR indicator equivalent on the Superb?

ASR light on mine is orange....flashes quite a lot in the wet

Just checked handbrake one is red

Hmm in that case I'd get that flashing red one looked up in the handbook - unless that one is used for ABS? Hard to say.

Superb must have the same lighting colours as the Furby then as that one has an orange light when ASR/ESP kicks in :D

Was it flashing & beeping at you?

If so you still had the handbrake on!! DOH!

Yes it was - handbrake was off though! Came on on a fast bend having driven 40 miles or so!

I would guess the switch/contact for the handbrake warning light could be faulty then, or possibly the handbrake wasn't completely off, I've driven about before with the handbrake not completely released and had similar issues, when I realised there was still another 'click' to release on the handbrake it stopped!

My furby does the same. Sometimes the brake warning light comes on and other times it doesn't. It does it under harsh acceleration too.

Going to take it in to the dealer.

Brake fluid sloshing around in the reservoir, as it moves it activates the low fluid warning.
