Afternoon all, wonder if you can help me.

I'm half way through replacing my drvers side outer cv joint. Having taken the old off and cleaning it up I have noticed the new circlip is round compared to the old that is almost u shaped.

Instructions wise it states to replace with new yet it also seems too big. I am guessing it might deform to the shape that's required when fitting the joint over it?

So my options are use old one that seems to fit over snugly or use new that is quite loose and follow instructions in packaging?

It is an aftermarket cv joint and it does seem to have two options for location of circlip on different cars.

My instinct is use the old?

Any help appreciated

I just reused the old one and it's been fine
