Stop/Start

Featured Replies

I've been told you can Switch the Stop/Start off yourself does anyone know if that's true?

just press the A button on the dash

You'll find you will be reaching for the switch quite often. It's handy sometimes but  I mainly have it switched off. Keeps the VED price down or free though.

Does it reset every time you switch off then?

Have to say, the situations where I need to switch it off are rare. Generally it is very good and works well.

Yes

I never once switched it off. Why would you?

Ive driven the car 200 miles and havent actually used it yet, tend to leave the car in gear at lights etc

To get the engine to operating temperature.

Edit: I never leave in gear at traffic lights as it's bad for clutch release bearing.

Stop/Start doesn't work until the engine is at operating temperature. Mine didn't anyway and my Fabia's the same. If the engine gets too cold it starts again.

For me warm enough engine is 90c (in winter). Until that temperature is reached I let it run. Heater doesn't work very well if coolant is less than 90c.
